Updated June 2026

The Florida 6-20 All-Lines Adjuster exam is 100 scored multiple-choice questions, a 2-hour limit, closed book, and 70% to pass, delivered by Pearson VUE for the Department of Financial Services. This guide walks all 10 content areas with an explanation on every question, so you understand the material instead of memorizing an answer key.

How this study guide is organized

The guide follows the official Florida 6-20 exam outline. Each of the 10 content areas is its own section, and every one of the 300 original practice questions shows the correct choice plus a short explanation — so you learn the reasoning, not just the letter. Because the real exam is closed book, the goal is recall and understanding, not knowing where to look something up. Reading the why behind each answer is what gets concepts to stick for test day.

You can start free: the first two study areas and the first five quiz questions are fully open with no account, so you can see exactly how the explanations work before deciding to unlock everything.

The 10 content areas

The exam draws from ten subjects, and the guide mirrors them in order. Here is what each one actually tests:

  1. Insurance basics & terminology — core concepts, risk, and the vocabulary every later area builds on.
  2. Florida insurance law (Ch. 626) & the Valued Policy Law — the statutes that govern adjusters and claims in Florida.
  3. Adjuster ethics, licensing & conduct — duties, prohibited acts, and how to stay compliant.
  4. The claims & adjusting process — from first notice of loss through investigation, evaluation, and settlement.
  5. Property insurance — homeowners, dwelling, and flood/NFIP coverage.
  6. Commercial property & BOP — business property forms and the businessowners policy.
  7. Casualty & general liability (CGL) — third-party coverage and liability concepts.
  8. Auto insurance — Florida PIP/no-fault and the personal auto policy (PAP).
  9. Workers compensation — benefits, eligibility, and the Florida framework.
  10. Policy provisions, contracts & loss settlement — the clauses that decide how a claim actually pays.

The areas where most candidates lose points are Florida law (Ch. 626), the claims process, and Florida auto/PIP. They are concept-heavy and Florida-specific, so study them first and give them the most repetitions.

Which areas decide pass or fail

With 70% needed and 100 scored questions, the margin is thinner than it looks — a cluster of missed questions in one weak area can drop you below the line. Florida law under Chapter 626 is the quiet killer: it is pure statute, easy to skim past, and the exam tests it directly. The claims and adjusting process trips people up because the steps blur together under exam pressure, and Florida auto/PIP is its own world of no-fault rules that do not match other states. Work these three first, then layer in the property, commercial, casualty, and workers comp areas where the policy mechanics and loss-settlement math live.

If you want a sense of where candidates typically stumble before you start, the pass-rate breakdown shows the pattern, and the exam overview covers the format, fee, and what to expect at the Pearson VUE center.

How to use this guide: study, quiz, then sim

Work one area at a time in the study guide: read the question, answer it from memory, then read the explanation — every question has one, and you should read it even when you were right. When an area feels solid, switch to the practice test filtered to that same area to prove recall under quiz conditions. Once your weak areas hold up, run the full timed 100-question simulation to rehearse exam pacing within the 2-hour limit. For a week-by-week order, follow the how-to-pass study plan, and to see the question style up close, browse the sample exam questions. If you are still working toward eligibility, the license requirements page covers what you need before you can sit the exam.
